I am a visual artist whose work surrounds Black and Caribbean diasporas and the systemic elements that help shape their identities and realities. My work explores the intersectionality of race, class, gender and color. I illustrate the complex dynamics of joy, struggle, resilience, and resistance within these communities. Building upon both personal experiences and expansive research, I strive to present a holistic representation of Black and Caribbean life not just leaning into adversity they face, but also holding space for the richness of culture, history, and community that remain despite systemic barriers. Growing up in the tropical paradise that is Miami, FL, a city filled with a mixture of people from different backgrounds. I am inspired by the vivid colors of the city's agriculture and architecture. These elements inspire the vivid palette and dynamic brushstrokes that characterize my work. Using bold colors and mixed media techniques, I create compositions that convey both the energy and emotional weight of the stories I tell. My work is not only a reflection of my own background, but also a platform to tell stories of those who often remain unheard.
